Talent Centre Accreditation

We are delighted that Winchester Hockey Club has been selected to work towards accreditation as an England Hockey Talent Centre. This is a process that will last most of the season and we hope to achieve accreditation next summer. Talent Centres will be part of the newly introduced Talent System Framework, which can be explored in more detail here and here.

We believe that our selection is confirmation that we are providing a high quality provision that allows players to develop their hockey ability, and we expect that working through the accreditation process will help us to continually improve what we do and how we do it.

As part of our desire to improve, we are always open to suggestions. If you would like to be part of our team working towards this accreditation or if you have any thoughts or questions, please speak to your age group manager or contact Tim Lander.

U14 Boys

EHC PLATE vs Havant - 11-0

Winchester U14 boys extended their EH Cup run with a comprehensive first round plate win against Havant. Despite the early start, the boys looked slick in their warm-up and were fired up and ready to go as the game got underway. The young Havant side, on the other hand, were tentative and allowed Winchester to dominate all aspects of the game. To their credit, Winchester stuck to their game plan, passing the ball accurately and quickly from player to player, creating multiple goal scoring chances. Many of these were clinically dispatched and by the end of the first quarter the game was done. The coaching team used the opportunity to move players around, and the boys embraced the chance to try out new positions. The goals kept coming, although there were a few chances for Havant to gain a consolation, but Harrison was alert to keep another clean sheet.

AC Selections

Many of our players have taken part in DC training sessions, with some then invited to assessments for selection to AC squads. Selection brings joy for some and disappointment for others, but is only a staging post in our young players' hockey journey. Regardless of this selection, there remains lots of opportunity for all to challenge themselves and enjoy their hockey within our club. That said, we congratulate those who have been selected to be part of their age group AC squad for this season:
