A great way to end the last match of the year with a decisive 7-nil win and congratulations to Alice on a hat-trick. This sees us into Round 4 (last 16 teams) of the competition. Thank you to Amelia W, Bea and Esther from the U16s for coming to play and to the parents for transporting the players to yet another distant away game.

U16 Girls

EH Plate Rd 2 vs Havant - 0-1 (26 Nov)

Winchester hosted Havant in a very physical plate match. Havant came with more aggression and drive which showed from the outset. The Winchester girls had to deal with a storm of first half attacks and little possession, which ended in a goal just before half time to the visitors.

A firm half time talk from Maz seemed to do the trick and the girls came out fighting in the second half, coming close to scoring on multiple occasions. However unfortunately they couldn’t convert and just ran out of time, with the visitors edging a 0-1 win.

U14 Girls

vs Guildford U13 - 1-2 (26 Nov)

Scorer: Connie

The girls’ section had three home matches on Sunday starting with a friendly against Guildford. Both teams started well and demonstrated great skills. The Winchester girls were passing the ball well and put the Guildford defence under some pressure. Both teams had some great chances with both keepers making some fantastic saves. Guildford were on the score sheet first but Winchester weren’t far behind with a lovely goal from Connie. At half-time the girls were upbeat and went into the second half with great energy. The second half started well for both teams but Guildford then put Winchester under pressure towards the end of the game. Flora again made some brilliant saves but Guildford managed to secure the win with another goal.

The Winchester girls did themselves proud, playing some great hockey and showed how much they are improving and growing as a team.

Players of the match: Flora and Amber
